ORRIS was founded in Paris by Kenneth Koo and Lani Le Berre. We had a vision to elevate a simple bar of soap into a luxurious and sensorial cleansing experience. Made with the highest quality plant derived ingredients, our products are designed to appeal to the senses: sight, smell, and touch.
Unable to find existing products on the market that were at once effective, enjoyable to use, and gentle enough for sensitive skin, Kenneth began making bar soaps for himself and friends. He began experimenting with powerful botanical ingredients inspired by rich histories of holistic practices, such as herbalism, Ayurveda, and Japanese cleansing rituals.
Our Ethos
The word ‘ORRIS’ refers to the fragrant rootstock of the Iris flower. We were taken by this name due to its rich history of being used as medicine and in perfumery to anchor scents. This herbal ingredient was quite symbolic to us: its association to the ephemeral flower and its healing properties. ‘ORRIS’ came to embody our vision for the brand: innovating through the reinterpretation of tradition and drawing inspiration from Nature.
Our ethos is to use the highest quality botanical actives to craft a line of multipurpose and effective skincare products. We believe cleansing is an integral part of any skincare regiment and should be a luxurious and indulgent experience.
Each of our four soaps embodies a distinct persona and addresses particular skin concerns through the unique therapeutic and sensuous qualities of their natural ingredients.
Production + Ingredients
ORRIS artisanal botanical soaps are handcrafted in small batches in the South of France. Each Cold Process soap is hand-poured and hand-cut, using the finest oils, butters, and botanicals.
Our sustainably-sourced and luxurious soap base includes Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, and Castor Oil, all of which work in harmony to nourish and cleanse without stripping the skin.
Our fragrant bases and accords are derived solely from natural essences, distilled from plant matter from all over the world — Nature’s own perfumery. We developed each distinct fragrance in-house to evoke the persona associated with each soap.
All ORRIS products are free of sulfates, parabens, and synthetic fragrances or colorants; they contain no Animal Fats or Palm Oil. Cruelty free.
